Resource Conservation Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />February 9, 2009 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson urged the board to identify sources of Federal or State grant <br />funds to support education of and consultation with Boulder County builders <br />and architects, Louisville city staff, and home owners (current and <br />prospective). In addition to identifying sources of grant funds and pursuing <br />those funds, he proposes that LRCAB would be active in public outreach. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson concluded by offering his time and experience to help develop a <br />Louisville green building program. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />: <br /> <br />2009 Goals and Projects – LRCAB members presented the following ideas: <br /> <br /> Finding ways to encourage Louisville residents to abandon one-time-use <br />plastic bags for reusable long-life bags. <br /> <br /> Starting a city-wide clean-up day, bike tour of the town, or other bike <br />activity to honor John Breaux. John was the recently deceased Louisville <br />resident who was often seen biking the streets and collecting aluminum <br />cans for recycling. <br /> <br /> Suggest for Louisville ordinance the following building requirements; <br /> That all new homes be built with two attic-to-basement utility <br />o <br />chases to allow the easy addition of solar thermal (water heating) or <br />photovoltaic systems. <br /> That recycling be required at all remodeling and new home building <br />o <br />sites. <br /> That Energy Star appliances be used in new homes and remodeled <br />o <br />homes. <br /> That new and remodeled homes be finished with compact <br />o <br />fluorescent bulbs (CFCs). <br /> <br /> <br /> That the LED holiday light promotion be terminated <br /> <br /> For the purpose of eliminating herbicide overspray and drift, that organic <br />farming practices be required on open space agricultural land, specifically <br />the Harney Lastoka. <br /> <br />Next Meeting <br />: – <br /> <br /> Continuation of discussion of LRCAB member goals. <br />o <br /> Discussion or renaming the board. <br />o <br /> Further of discussion of a way to honor John Breaux <br />o <br /> Further discussion of the promotion of green building in Louisville <br />o <br /> <br />Adjourn <br /> – The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
