Resource Conservation Advisory Board Minutes February 9, 2009 Page 2 of 2 Mr. Johnson urged the board to identify sources of Federal or State grant funds to support education of and consultation with Boulder County builders and architects, Louisville city staff, and home owners (current and prospective). In addition to identifying sources of grant funds and pursuing those funds, he proposes that LRCAB would be active in public outreach. Mr. Johnson concluded by offering his time and experience to help develop a Louisville green building program. Discussion : 2009 Goals and Projects – LRCAB members presented the following ideas:  Finding ways to encourage Louisville residents to abandon one-time-use plastic bags for reusable long-life bags.  Starting a city-wide clean-up day, bike tour of the town, or other bike activity to honor John Breaux. John was the recently deceased Louisville resident who was often seen biking the streets and collecting aluminum cans for recycling.  Suggest for Louisville ordinance the following building requirements; That all new homes be built with two attic-to-basement utility o chases to allow the easy addition of solar thermal (water heating) or photovoltaic systems. That recycling be required at all remodeling and new home building o sites. That Energy Star appliances be used in new homes and remodeled o homes. That new and remodeled homes be finished with compact o fluorescent bulbs (CFCs).  That the LED holiday light promotion be terminated  For the purpose of eliminating herbicide overspray and drift, that organic farming practices be required on open space agricultural land, specifically the Harney Lastoka. Next Meeting : – Continuation of discussion of LRCAB member goals. o Discussion or renaming the board. o Further of discussion of a way to honor John Breaux o Further discussion of the promotion of green building in Louisville o Adjourn – The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm.
