RESOLUTION NO. 8 <br />SERIES 2023 <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN OPEN SPACE AND PARKS SALES TAX <br />EXTENSION TASK FORCE TO PROVIDE ADVISORY RECOMMENDATIONS ON A <br />PROPOSED BALLOT ISSUE REQUESTING VOTERS TO APPROVE EXTENSION OF <br />THE EXISTING OPEN SPACE AND PARKS TAX <br />WHEREAS, the City strives to be both effective and efficient with public outreach, public <br />involvement and notification for city projects, general information and special events; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council and City staff wants, encourages, and requires citizen input <br />on the design of a possible extension of the City's existing open space tax; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Charter Section 10-2(f), the City Council desires to establish a <br />Open Space and Parks Sales Tax Extension Task force to provide advisory recommendations on <br />a proposed ballot issue requesting voters to approve extension of the existing open space tax. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />Section 1. There is hereby created an Open Space and parks Sales Tax Extension Task <br />Force, comprised of the following persons, representing two current members of the Parks and <br />Public Landscaping Advisory Board (PPLAB), two current members of the Open Space Advisory <br />Board (OSAB), one current member of the Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board (LSAB), and <br />the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tern from City Council: <br />A. <br />Ellen Toone (PPLAB) <br />B. <br />Laurie Harford (PPLAB) <br />C. <br />Jessamine Fitzpatrick (OSAB) <br />D. <br />Helen Moshak (OSAB) <br />E. <br />Todd Budin (LSAB) <br />F. <br />Dennis Maloney, Mayor <br />G. <br />Deb Fahey, Mayor Pro Tem <br />Section 2. The goals of the Task Force shall be to consider whether voters should be <br />asked to approve an extension of the Open Space and Parks Sales Tax and, if so, whether there <br />should be any changes to the sales tax rate or authorized uses of such revenues. <br />Section 3. The City Manager shall designate appropriate City staff to facilitate, assist <br />and advise the Task Force as it works to achieve the goals specified above. <br />Section 4. The Task Force shall conclude its work and present its recommendations to <br />the City Council no later than June 20, 2023. <br />Section 5.
