Library Plaza Public Art Recommendation <br />February 2023 <br />Following the City of Louisville's guidelines when selecting public art installations, the Louisville Library <br />put out a request for proposals. After careful review of the proposals, we would like to recommend <br />Heart of the Community submitted by Darla Okada. Ms. Okada's non-contiguous mural will span <br />approximately 87 square feet of wall space throughout the Library's plaza area. <br />We feel that this work of art will enhance the Library Plaza by celebrating our vision to engage <br />community, champion literacy, and spark imagination and learning. With this design we can visualize <br />patrons of all ages engaging with Ms. Okada's literary loving woodland creatures, discovering hidden <br />gems designed to surprise and delight every visitor.
