City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 15, 2022 <br />Page 3 of 13 <br />Assistant City Manager Hogan stated the 2022 work plan includes ongoing <br />implementation of the 2021 EDI Task Force recommendations. One of the <br />recommendations from the Task Force is creating an EDI position within the City with <br />appropriate support, resources, and decision -making power. Staff has developed a job <br />description based on the needs of the organization and similar positions in other <br />municipalities. Staff is currently evaluating recruitment strategies for the position and <br />anticipates posting the position and hiring a qualified candidate as soon as possible. <br />Staff has worked on a number of improvements related to language justice, including <br />new facility signage, translation of City communications, and interpretation services. <br />New signage was recently installed at the Library, Recreation & Senior Center, and City <br />Hall to create a more welcoming environment and inform people of accessible services. <br />The City now has on -demand translation services available in all City facilities through <br />Language Line. Translation at public meetings is available upon request <br />Staff has launched a new internal EDI committee with representatives from all City <br />departments. The committee is focused on inclusion, education, policies, celebrations, <br />and talent planning. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated he appreciates the update and the new programs. As <br />this progresses he would like to know how well these programs are working and if we <br />are hitting the mark. <br />Councilmember Brown stated he strongly supports these programs and appreciates the <br />work that has been done but also knows we have a way to go as well. <br />Councilmember Dickinson stated having the new position is a big deal for the <br />community and organization. <br />Public Comments — None. <br />RESOLUTION NO.44, SERIES 2022 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PLANNED <br />UNIT DEVELOPMENT AMENDMENT TO ALLOW CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW <br />2,824 SQUARE -FOOT AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE STATION AND CONVENIENCE <br />STORE WITH EIGHT PUMP FUELING STATIONS AND CANOPY AT 525 MCCASLIN <br />BOULEVARD <br />Mayor Stolzmann introduced the item and called for disclosures, seeing none she <br />opened the public hearing. <br />Mayor Stolzmann stated she has spoken with a number of residents and business <br />owners about the recent moratorium on gas stations but not about this application <br />specifically and it will not affect her ability to hear the evidence in this application. <br />
