LCityof <br />Louisville <br />City Manager's Office <br />Memorandum <br />To: Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board <br />From: Kayla Betzold, Sustainability Coordinator <br />Date: March 15, 2023 <br />Re: Staff Updates <br />Internal Decarbonization Plan <br />• The McKinstry/City of Louisville team has completed audits at all City facilities and has in-depth <br />analysis complete on 3 facilities. <br />• The team will be presenting preliminary results to City Council on April 4. <br />• The team will be presenting the final roadmap to City Council on July 11. <br />Dark Sky Lighting <br />• The Sustainability division is working with Economic Vitality and Planning to develop a dark sky <br />lighting ordinance, which is scheduled for Council in late spring. <br />• Visit https://www.engagelouisvilleco.org/darksky to learn more about the project and to <br />complete a resident feedback survey by April 15, 2023. <br />• A Dark Sky Open House will be held on Monday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Louisville Public <br />Library 15t Floor Meeting Room. <br />• An Open Space Dark Sky educational program will be held on Sunday, April 16 for those <br />interested in learning about the tools used to measure light pollution. <br />Compost Contamination <br />• Al Organics has announced sweeping compost policy changes which will go into effect on April <br />1, 2023. Compostable serviceware, paper products and compostable bags larger than 3 gallons <br />will no longer be accepted into the compost stream. More information can be found on the <br />Eco-Cycle website. The updated compost guidelines poster is included in the LSAB packet. <br />• The City of Louisville, in partnership with the City of Lafayette and Al Organics, will be hosting <br />an informational meeting Get Caught Up with Composting on Tuesday, April 11 from 5:30 — <br />6:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Library Meeting Room. <br />1 <br />
