Youth Advisory Board Minutes 3/2/23 Page 2 of 3 • Mandy thanked everyone for their help with Sweetheart Dance. VIII. Annual Project — Pet Mayor Election • Timeline reminders i. March is submission time. Voting will take place 4/4-4/18. • Marketing Plan — Ginger Cross came to help us. i. Video — We filmed the final scene with whole group. ii. We discussed other ways to promote the project (Posters, sharing to schools, personal social media, etc.). 1. Flyers — Ginger made flyers to handout. We divided them amongst the group to cover different parts of town. a. Frankie — Alfalfa's, Lily — King Soopers, Soren and Hazel — Main Street, Max — Via Toscana shopping center, Raymond — Safeway shopping center, Nate — McCaslin, Chelsea — Front Street, Bella — Lamar's, Violet — Ziggi's/Moe's b. Doggy daycares, groomers, Petsmart, Community Park dog park 2. Advertising — We decided to focus on getting people to submit pets around town in March. We will shift to focus on promoting voting in schools in April. 3. Ginger is able to email anyone who registered on EngageLouisville to remind them to vote. 4. We planned to make a new video promoting voting in April. • Voter Registration Promotion — Discuss logistics (how, when, where, and who will promote) i. We brainstormed phrasing for our message about the importance of voting in our election, but in other important elections as well: 1. "Vote to see your community pawsper! Make sure your voice is represented in local government and beyond. Voting registration begins at 16 years old. Right now you're voting in YAB's campaign for Pet Mayor, but in November you'll be voting for Louisville's next (human) Mayor! Start educating yourself about the process now! Remember, every bark, meow, chirp, and voice matters!" IX. Discussion Items for Next Meeting • Voting will start on the Tuesday before our next meeting. • Everyone please come up with at least one idea for what we should put in our video before the meeting so that we can write a script and film quickly. Think about props, script, etc.
