LLCity�f <br />Louisville <br />C'OLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />WHEREAS, economic development is a process that is strengthened by the critical <br />partnership between economic development professionals and local government <br />leadership to promote a shared vision for developing resilient communities; and <br />WHEREAS, economic developers cultivate and nurture entrepreneurship that helps to <br />secure the next generation of new businesses, working in partnership with industries, <br />brokers, educators, and other key allies to foster an effective business climate and meet <br />the increasingly critical need for a skilled and competitive workforce; and <br />WHEREAS, economic developers promote economic well-being and quality of life for <br />their communities by creating, retaining, and expanding jobs that facilitate growth, <br />enhance wealth, and provide a stable tax base; and <br />WHEREAS, economic developers are engaged in a wide variety of settings including rural <br />and urban, local, state, provincial, and federal governments, public -private partnerships, <br />chambers of commerce, universities, and a variety of other institutions; and <br />WHEREAS, the International Economic Development Council provides leadership and <br />excellence in economic development for communities, members, and partners through <br />conferences, training courses, advisory services, research, in-depth publications, public <br />policy advocacy, and related initiatives; and <br />WHEREAS, Downtown Colorado, Inc. has worked since 1982 to promote, educate, <br />strengthen, and redevelop Colorado's strong downtowns, town centers, and commercial <br />corridors, united in cause, Colorado's downtown champions; <br />WHEREAS, the Economic Development Council of Colorado works to strengthen our <br />state's economy by unifying organizations involved in economic development, fostering <br />the exchange of ideas, insights, and best practices for economic developers; and <br />1 <br />
