20. it <br />Worsening Shortage <br />of Affordable Housing <br />The affordable housing shortage in Boulder County is expected to <br />worsen, i.e.in 2018, housing costs were expected to rise 26% over <br />the next five years, while the availability of affordable housing units <br />for households earning below or near median incomes is likely to <br />decrease by 11%. The actual increase was 44% between 2018 and <br />2023 for single-family homes. Louisville, Superior, Lafayette, and <br />Erie are suggested to build 3,600 affordable homes through 2035, <br />but without aggressive policy change, it's unlikely that Louisville <br />will build many in the next decade. <br />Sources: City of Boulder and Boulder County.
