City Council
Meeting Minutes
September 27, 2022
Mayor Stolzmann stated the City is not leading the way on building codes, we are right
in the middle of the pack and there are many places are ahead of us. She stated her
frustration that this keeps getting put off and is being addressed in political terms. She
would like to see what other incentives people can bring forward.
Councilmember Most stated business needs cannot be put ahead of the environment; it
doesn't have to be one or the other. We have a responsibility to address climate
change.
Councilmember Brown stated he would consider exemptions if there is evidence
something is actually prohibitive, not just difficult to do. There are many issues that have
been first addressed by municipalities and building codes can be one of those.
Mayor Stolzmann stated there is general agreement for staying with the cohort and
having staff bring back an ordinance for new construction to have all -electric heating
and cooling systems. Flesh out Policy Option 1 which would require more efficient
buildings with onsite solar offsets. These would apply to new building only.
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated while he is interested in the cohort he is not interested
in waiting for them forever. He would be in favor of quarterly reporting so see if a course
change is needed at the local level.
ADJOURN
Members adjourned at 9:48 pm. 14
Dennis Maloney, Mayor Pro Tem
OF LQ&z4'
uth, City
M
®4A0
