Youth Advisory Board Agenda 4/6/23 Page 2 of 3 • Swearing In Ceremony at May City Council meeting • Did everyone get their flyers posted? i. 42 people scanned the QR code so this was really successful! • Did everyone find out how they can share voting info with their schools? i. People shared some of the ways they shared. ii. Lily suggested making a flyer that promotes voting. • Ginger, Mandy, and Jessica shared some issues we had with the EngageLouisville page and how we may need to modify the election. o Share button wasn't working. o People quickly figured out they could clear their cache and vote for their pet multiple times. Unfortunately the top 2 candidates both appear to have done this. Registration was turned on after this. o Ways we can handle this: ■ Do nothing. Let it go and continue the election as is. (2) ■ Disqualify the top 2 candidates. ■ Have a run-off election with the top 10 candidates. (8 votes) • April 18 — April 25 • We will create a flyer with photos of all 10 candidates. ■ Have a Pet Council with runner up pets. • Will Pet Mayor Election be an annual YAB project? i. Could Mayor have a term? 2 year term so that YAB would do Mayor one year, then something else the other year. ii. Could the Pet Mayor fit into another project too? Help promote another project during their term? iii. Think about this for May meeting. Come with pros and cons. • Film video to promote voting - Everyone will share their ideas with the group and we will write the script together. i. We brainstormed ideas and wrote a script, and filmed a quick video. • Voter Registration Promotion i. We've linked info on the website and decided we didn't have the capacity to do more with this at this time. We can focus on it more next year. VIII. Discussion Items for Next Meeting • Ginger will email all candidates to tell them about the run-off election. She'll include the video if possible.
