LCityof <br />Louisville <br />City Manager's Office <br />• The City has been awarded $23,875 for the Turf Replacement Program funding through <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board to expand the residential Lawn Replacement <br />program through Resource Central. If funds remain, this grant may also fund the start of <br />a commercial turf removal program in Louisville. <br />• Both Senator Hickenlooper and Senator Benet have submitted the Louisville Recreation <br />& Senior Center Decarbonization Project to the Senate Appropriations Committee for <br />funding consideration. The next update will be mid -to -late summer. <br />• The City, along with Boulder County and municipalities, applied for IRA Urban Forestry <br />funding to conduct an urban heat mapping study and asset database, purchase 1,000+ <br />trees for planting and train 25 tree tenders in each community to ensure longevity of <br />newly planted trees. <br />• The City, along with Boulder County and municipalities, are applying for U.S. <br />Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Highway Adminstration (FHWA) and <br />Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant program funding to expand publicly <br />accessible electric vehicle charging in the county. <br />Staffing <br />• The City has made an offer to a candidate for the Sustainability Specialist position and <br />the candidate has accepted the offer and will be starting on June 20, 2023. The <br />Sustainability Specialist will focus on program development and management, <br />sustainability events and communications. <br />Regional Collaborations <br />• The Front Range Sustainability Directors group met and discussed the $1M EPA funding <br />for a regional climate action plan to be completed by the end of 2024. DRCOG will likely <br />become the leading organization for this effort. If the regional climate action plan is <br />created, the region then become eligible for $3B+ in funding to implement the plan in <br />future years. <br />• The Colorado Communities for Climate Action policy retreat is in early June. The City's <br />Sustainability division and Mayor Pro Tern will be representing Louisville at this event. <br />• Boulder County has created a nature -based solutions collaborative working group to <br />discuss regional opportunities for nature -based climate solutions, such as expanded tree <br />canopy and regenerative agriculture. <br />• The Boulder County Climate and Economy team met to learn about CoStar, a software <br />platform that provides detailed commercial building information including square <br />footage, age, heating system type, etc. The City of Louisville subscribes to this service <br />and information from this platform could be used for commercial sustainability data <br />collection and program development. <br />
