Joe Tomeo, by the time he was about 20, was employed by Western States Cutlery & <br />Manufacturing Co. in Boulder. Local directories indicate that he worked there for over <br />15 years, then was employed at Denver Metals Foundry in 1947. A 1942 issue of the <br />Louisville Times states that he was to report to be inducted into the U.S. Army, but there <br />are no other available records indicating that he served. The following photo of him <br />came to the Historical Museum from the Tomeo family: <br />Dom started working as a meatcutter for McCorkle's Store on Main Street when he was <br />about 17. The following photo of Dom Tomeo is also from the Tomeo family: <br />In April 1946, according to the Louisville Times, the owners of the property, who were <br />Dom, Joe, and Gene Tomeo, demolished the two-story "Big House." The following photo <br />of the Tomeo House that appears on its 1948 County Assessor card shows the area after <br />the "Big House" was demolished and before Joe's Metal Shop was installed in its place: <br />3 <br />
