Earliest Owners of Property, 1894-1906
In 1894, John Connell, who was the developer of the Acme Place subdivision, separately sold
Lot 5 (all of which is part of 545 Jefferson today) and Lot 6 (a part of which is part of 545
Jefferson today) to two different buyers.
Lot 5, Block 3
Connell sold Lot 5 to Michelangelo Bartimoccia (stated in the property records as "Mick
Bartimuch") for the sum of $50 in 1894.
Mick Bartimoccia was born in Italy in 1862. He and his wife, "Palmala," came to the U.S. in
about 1890 with their daughter, Michelina. They then had another daughter, Mary. He worked
as a coal miner in Louisville. In about 1899, Palmala died and he remarried to Anna Lombarda.
The family is shown in federal census records in 1900 as living in the vicinity of Jefferson Ave.
south of Pine, where their listed neighbors are others who are known to have lived on S.
Jefferson Ave. Mick Bartimoccia is listed as being the owner of the house, and records indicate
that he did not own another house in Louisville. Mick and Anna's daughter Angelina was born in
1903.
In about 1903, Mick Bartimoccia died and the property at 545 Jefferson was inherited by wife
and daughters. The 1904 Louisville directory shows Anna under the name of "Annie
Bartomatcle," a widow, living on Jefferson between Pine and Hutchinson (which is the location
of 545 Jefferson).
In 1906, his daughters Michelina and Mary sold their combined 1/3 interest in Lot 5 to their
stepmother, Anna, for $50.
The next day, Anna and her second husband, Ferdinando Lombardi, sold Lot 5 to Frank
Scarpella.
Lot 6, Block 3
In addition to the other lots such as Lot 5, Block 3 that he sold in 1894, Connell sold Lot 6 in
1894 to Henri Dhieux, who sold it in 1895 to Francois Senechal. Next, in 1897, Pascal Allart
(sometimes spelled as Allard) became the owner of Lot 6 as well as Lot 7.
In 1901, Pascal Allart sold Lots 6 and 7 to Frank Scarpella.
Discussion of Date of Construction
The 1948 Boulder County Assessor Card for 545 Jefferson states that the house was constructed
in 1913. The current Boulder County website also gives the date of 1913. However, Boulder
2
