Similarly, this 1940s aerial photo, which is from Boulder's Carnegie Library for Local History, <br />shows the empty lot for 740 Grant in the middle of the photo. The brick schoolhouse that is <br />now the Louisville Center for the Arts can be seen catty -corner from the property, and the <br />Louisville Grade School is across the street (seen on the right side of the photo). The photo also <br />shows how the back of the 740 Grant property aligns with the back of the Methodist Church <br />property at 741 Jefferson. <br />McLaughlin Family Ownership (1947-1951) & Discussion of Date of Construction <br />Harry and Frances McLaughlin relocated this house from Superior, and it was their family home <br />from 1947 to 1951. Harry McLaughlin (1914-1997) married Frances Fanchini (1916-2001) of <br />Louisville in 1934. They had seven children. Harry worked as a carpenter and in area coal mines. <br />On July 10, 1947, Harry and Frances McLaughlin purchased a house and land in Superior, <br />Colorado from Elvin and Elfreda Walker. Its legal description was Lot 11, Block D, which is the <br />legal description for 303 W. William St. in Superior. A few days later, on July 14, 1947, they <br />purchased the lots at 740 Grant. <br />According to articles in the Louisville Times, the McLaughlins then had the house moved from <br />Superior to 740 Grant. On August 7, it was reported that "Mr. and Mrs. Harry McLaughlin will <br />move a six room house from Superior to the vacant lots west of the Methodist church. The <br />foundation of the house has been laid." (The Louisville Times August 7, 1947 — Colorado <br />Historic Newspapers Collection) <br />On August 21, the Louisville Times reported that "Mr. and Mrs. Harry McLaughlin and family <br />moved into their new home Thursday.
