Murphy platted the subdivision of Murphy Place in 1907. He did so as President of the
Louisville Realty & Securities Company. It became the location of Louisville's Frenchtown
neighborhood, described in the lead article of the Spring 2016 issue of the Louisville Historian,
"Being French in Louisville," located here:
https://www.louisvilleco.gov/Home/ShowDocument?id=9908 .
Madonna Ownership, 1919 - present; Date of Construction
The Genaro and Aldovina Madonna family owned the historic home at 421 County Rd. from
1919 to 1983. (The full history of 421 County Rd. can be found here: 421 County Rd History -
Laserfiche WebLink (louisvilleco.gov).) Also starting in 1919, they owned lots behind their
home (Lots 7-13, Block 2, Murphy Place) that are now the location of 929 Parkview. According
to the Madonna family, Genaro and Aldovina used the lots behind the historic family home for
their abundant gardens.
1
