She noted that expectations and wishes of staff were largely in line with
the Board’s current role and activities.
Staff did indicate a desire to get to know more of the Board members and have more
interaction with them, including on an informal basis.
Another suggestion by staff was more involvement by Board members in such
organizations as the American Library Association (ALA) and the Colorado Association of
Libraries (CAL) that often have workshops for library trustees. Both organizations have
information for trustees on their website.
B.Library Director Recruitment
Eileen complimented the selection process for this slate of candidates and noted that
Beth Barrett had accepted the City’s offer as of 13 July and would be starting in mid-
September.
C.By-laws Revision
To begin the process, the Board determined they must identify specific tasks to
undertake within their purview and the authority or role needed to fulfill those tasks.
The Board drafted a preliminary version of these tasks and roles. Eileen asked for
volunteers to take on various assignments, such as research and preparing draft
language to be reviewed at the next meeting.
D.Meeting Room Policy Review
The Board unanimously agreed to continue this item to a future meeting.
VIII.Director’s Report
A.Statistics
Aimee noted the following:
June 2009 circulation surpassed June 2008 by 11.2%
June circulation was up 31% over the previous month
The Summer Reading Program saw increases in Teen and Adult participants by 18%
and 4% respectively
Children’s Summer Reading had 937 participants, which was a 3% drop
Town of Superior participation for children, teen, and adult summer reading
programs was 19%, 14%, and 12% respectively
There was a 7% overall decrease in the number of Superior residents participating in
children’s summer reading, however, some of those had moved into the teen
program
In total, 5% of Library cardholders participated in summer reading programs
ûÕÊÅÏØòÏÉÕËÈÕÒÒÙ

íÈÛÑÔÚñÔÛËÜËÄ
êÍËÈÚØêÉËØØÉñÎÈÔÊÇÔÑÑØúî

ÆÆÆÑÎÈÔÊÇÔÑÑØÑÔÛËÜËÄÖÎÇ
