AUDIENCE COMMENTS
CHRIS SCHMIDT -
LOUISVILLE VOL. FIRE DEPT.

BETTY STONE REQUEST

CITY ATTORNEY REPORT
ORDINANCE #535 UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE AS AMENDED
1976 EDITION - SECOND
READING

May 3, 1977
Minutes page 2.:

Chris Schmidt, representing the Louisville
Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit,
stated that Denver City Council recently
passed an ordinance which requires the
licensing of emergency personnel and vehicles
responding into and out of the City of
Denver. This ordinance would require each
ambulance attendant to take a written test
prepared by the City of Denver Health Dept.
and each person driving the vehicle be
subjected to a physical examination and
driving test and also that each emergency
vehicle be licensed with the City of
Denver. In addition, Mr. Schmidt stated
that each rescue worker would also have to
pay a license fee. He stated that this
limits the City team from transporting
patients to any hospitals in the City
limits of Denver, i.e. Childrens, Colo.
General, and the Veteran's Hospital.
Mr. Schmidt stated that patients will be
transported to St. Anthony's North and when
stablized will then be transferred to
hospitals in the Denver limits if they so
choo$e.
Councilman DiCarlo stated that this should
be emphasized in the local papers so that
people in the area are aware of the new
Denver law.
Councilman DelPizzo stated that the City
should write the City of Denver and let them
know Louisville's feelings on their new
regulations. Council concurred and stated
that the City Attorney should review the
Denver Ordinance for the complete inter-
pretation and report at the next council
meeting.

Mrs. Betty Stone, 1001 Front St., stated
that the curbing in front of her home is
broken and the water is running out into
the street. She requested that the City
check and see if something can be done
about it.

Mr. Wurl stated that he would check into
the problem.

Attorney Joss noted that the ordinance has
been published twice in!t'he newspaper. He
then read the ordinance on second reading
by title only.
