CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT C.U. INTERNSHIP PROGRAM LEE ST. & SPRUCE ST. PROJECT May 3, 1977 Minutes page 6 Councilman Domenico then moved that as of this meeting there be no more work sessions the night before a council meeting. Seconded by Councilman Caranci. Roll call: McDonald no, Caranci no, DelPizzo yes, Domenico yes, DiCarlo no, DiLorenzo no. Motion defeated. Mr. Wurl stated that C.U. provides intern- ship programs which is a six week program; Louisville has been selected as one of the communities they want to provide this to. The normal procedure is a $1,000 grant program administered by the sponsors; however, many of the communities involved have put in additional money because of the benefits that the intern is to the City. Mr. Wurl stated that it was his recom- mendation that the program be approved and the City add $200 to the program. Councilman McDonald moved that the program be approved and the additional funds come out of the City Administrators budget. Seconded by Councilman Caranci. Councilman Domenico stated that he did not feel that the City should go along with the program because it costs the City money, and the money should be kept in the City. After comments roll call was taken. Domenico no, DelPizzo yes, Caranci yes, DiLorenzo yes, McDonald yes, DiCarlo yes. Motion carried. Mr. Wurl stated that there were additional funds in the C.D. program and the City has developed several projects - one which relates to water. He stated that it was an improvement program east of the rail- road tracks on Lee and Spruce St. Mr. Wurl requested that Council instruct the staff to continue with the program. He stated that he has spoken with Mr. Chen- oweth who stated that in reviewing the figures, there is money available in a surplus from the last two years pro- gram in the public works line items in the amount of $10,466. The needed amount of $8,920.61 is necessary to proceed with the project.
