PARKS CONTINUED Attorney Morris checked and reported to Council that Parks & Recreation Committee is a separate distinct body of the City and they get their own bids however; they are legally bound to call publically for bids; however, in this case they did not, but felt the three companies would have put in bids anyway. The Board feels the three bidders qualified and unless Council asks for an adver- tisement for bids, the Parks Deparment will award the bid to Louisville Electric for the repairs. They were low bid in the amount of $18,750 other bids were submitted by Howard Elec. at $21,300 and Sturgeon Electric at $23,437. Both bids used mercury vapor light which were not in the specs. All firms have had prior work in this field. Mr. Helart stated that although he does not need Councils approval he wanted to keep them informed. It was noted that payment for the work will come out of the service expansion fee. Councilman DiCarlo asked Mr. Helart where the new baseball field was to be located. Mr. Helart stated that the location has not been decided upon yet. The Board is recommending a development of a park in the South end of Louisville. Mr. Helart stated that he has not talked with Mr. Estavillo, however, he did not feel that a park in that area would be good for the south end of town because it is still not very close. BASEBALL FIELDS LUCY THOMPSON CANDIDATE FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER Mrs. Lucy Thompson stated that she was concerned about the communications bet- ween City and County governments. She asked Council about their feelings on involvement with the County. Councilman DelPizzo stated that he felt the streets in Boulder County that are used around the Louisville area are in very poor shape. Council concurred. It was suggested that a luncheon be set up with Mrs. Thompson and any other candidates who are interested in Louisville. -5-
