Note how some of these shaded boxes have a higher mean score than the <br />overall pooled mean score itself. <br />What the above table shows is that there was a tendency for the older respondents to rate <br />annexation of land for residential and commercial purposes slightly higher than the two younger <br />age categories, and for the younger age categories to rate preservation of land for future needs <br />and open space slightly higher than the oldest age category. However, these differences in <br />response patterns by age were not statistically significant. <br />One exception was the last question item on annexing land for open space. This item was <br />clearly given an overall higher rating by the two younger age categories, relative to the 45-87 <br />age category. This difference was statistically significant, as indicated by the .00 Means Test <br />significance level noted in the far right column. <br />These results, except for the "open space" item, would tend to support the viewpoint that most <br />11 <br />
