t
Again, this tabulation fails to reveal the details, or especially the feelings of some
respondents. Those who had no housing problems were succinct, usually stating their opinions in
three words or less - "no problems," "excellent," "couldn't be better," for example. Presumably those
who chose not to answer the question were satisfied with their housing arrangements, or else they
would have replied.
Those tabulated in the "other" category registered such comments as "How can I get advice?"
"Town does not support local business," etc. But the most numerous, and the lengthiest, comments
came from those who felt the pinch of housing costs, such as:
• Within the next six to eight months I will be in need of some kind of help, looking for a
possible condo or small home to purchase.
• I think there are too few mid -range homes to buy, the older homes are overpriced, and the
new homes are out of sight for normal income families to afford.
• Would love to own a home again, but saving a down payment seems impossible.
• Rent is very high in the Louisville -Lafayette area. Besides the rent being high the selection is
terrible! The rental neighborhoods are not good!
• We are currently looking to buy and are very interested in the Louisville area, although we
have looked and feel the prices are too high.
• My housing takes almost half of my income.
• With two incomes we still find it too hard to even find moderate housing. The cheapest thing
we found was a mobile home.
Our first choice when purchasing our first home was to move to Louisville, but due to the
expense and the poor choice of homes our realtor showed us, we were forced to purchase in
Broomfield.
We are currently renting at a price that seems like too much - $580/month.
City taxes generally make the county more attractive.
I'll be needing an affordable place to live, due to the loss of my home.
Would like to be able to afford an apartment.
No frills. no garage, no weatherization, no appliances, I pay $775 per month and trash
removal, water, sewage, gas, electricity (electric house), telephone. Please make things easier
on inhabitants of Boulder County.
15
