In this update The Ember Alliance will introduce wildfire mitigation concepts,
review wildfire mitigation strategies including the advantages and disadvantages of each
method, and identify which treatments will work best on different types of public lands
(open space, parks, public works, ditches).
Background: The Lynker Team has been working with the City of Louisville to develop a
wildfire risk assessment for Louisville's public lands. In our last update we reviewed the
project approach, the wildfire risk framework and model output and introduced the project
mitigation assessment. In this second meeting with the Open Space Advisory Board, we will
continue the review of wildfire mitigation strategies and recommendations.
Next Steps: The Lynker Team continues to develop the final report while waiting for updated
wildfire behavior modeling from the Colorado State Forest Service. The team will present the
final report to City Council on September 5.
