Local Licensing Authority <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 22, 2023 <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />After a brief discussion Kaufman made a motion; that the liquor license <br />be renewed with the condition that the payment "clears" by May 31; <br />seconded by Lipton. Roll call vote — unanimous for approval. <br />B. Public Hearing / Transfer Application: JJ Asian Restaurant, <br />Inc. d/b/a Mr. Sake Sushi & Grill — Beer & Wine Liquor License <br />— 1387 E South Boulder Road, Unit G <br />The Public Hearing was opened by Machado. The Secretary stated <br />the application was complete, the premises was posted, notice <br />published as required. <br />There were no authority member disclosures and the members <br />agreed that the boundaries of the neighborhood are the current city <br />boundaries. <br />Machado moved the entire application be made part of the record of <br />the hearing; Lipton seconded. All in favor. <br />The applicant came forward and was sworn in by the Secretary. <br />Lipton asked if this is the first establishment the applicant has run or if <br />there is a history of ownership. The applicant responded that she has <br />worked in a sushi restaurant previously as a waitress. Machado asked <br />if the applicant was TIPS trained. The applicant responded that she <br />has taken the classes. Lipton asked if she had ever served an <br />underage patron or overserved a patron. The applicant responded <br />she had not. Machado clarified that TIPS training is required for liquor <br />licensees. <br />After a brief discussion, Carlson moved that all City and State law <br />requirements have been met and the license be approved and <br />transferred; Kaufman seconded. Roll call vote - unanimous for <br />approval. <br />The Secretary informed the Authority that the applicant will be at the <br />June meeting for a new application for a Hotel & Restaurant Liquor <br />License. <br />The Authority took a five minute recess. <br />C. Public Hearing / Transfer Application: J, K & J Enterprises, <br />LLC d/b/a Henry's — Tavern Liquor License — 935 Pine Street <br />Machado recused himself from this hearing due to his law firm <br />representing the applicant in the past. He exited the room. <br />Lipton opened the public hearing. The Secretary stated the application <br />was complete, the premises was posted, notice published as required. <br />
