DRAFT September 7th, 2023
RE: Grant Application for the Reconstruction of Sunflower & Enclave Parks
Dear Selection Committee,
We are writing as representatives of the City's Parks and Public Landscape Advisory Board (PPLAB) to
express of our support of the reconstruction efforts and grant application process for Sunflower and
Enclave Parks.
As a citizen group tasked with advising City leadership on the development and operations of our City's
parks and public landscape infrastructure, we recognize the many challenges involved with
reconstruction. In particular the financial constraints of the City's Budget given no FEMA and/or
insurance reimbursement are available to offset available Capital Funds. In our opinion the potential
grant funding would be a huge supplement to the rebuild efforts and ensure these parks deliver the
amenities our community desires.
While both Sunflower and Enclave are relatively small in size, each plays a vital role in their respective
neighborhood and serves as a critical element of public infrastructure in two areas which otherwise lack
common gathering and community focused spaces. These parks were well loved by their residents prior
to being lost in the Marshall Fire and deserve to be returned to their full capacity and beyond.
We look forward to continuing our involvement in the planning, design and reconstruction of the parks
and are hopeful for GOCO's support to help boost the community's efforts. Our hope is that the next
chapter for these two parks will exceed expectations as residents continue returning home.
Thanks for your consideration of the City's application and your on -going support for public spaces
throughout the State of Colorado.
Sincerely,
City of Louisville Parks and Public Landscape Advisory Board
`v,
