Photos circa 1915 and 2021.
After Othello Ostrander's death in 1916, Isabelle moved away and lived in other places. In
1926, she transferred ownership of 741 Lincoln to her son, Albert. She died in Oregon in 1951.
Albert and his wife, Mabel Ostrander, eventually moved back to 741 Lincoln after living
elsewhere for a period of their ownership of this house. Mabel Ostrander passed away in 1954.
According to the Louisville Times on Sept. 16, 1955, a vocational agricultural teacher in
Louisville schools named Kenneth Scherer then rented and lived at 741 Lincoln in 1954-55.
Ralph and Matilda Thomas owned this home from 1955 to 1962, renting it to Norris and Janice
Olson. In 1962, it was purchased by Leonard Lawrence (1918-1993) and Clara Ziliotti
Lawrence (1924-1989), who had four children. The Lawrence family was one of many English
mining families that settled in the Louisville area in its earliest years. Leonard grew up nearby
on McKinley Avenue in Louisville. The Lawrence family owned the house for over thirty
years, until 1994.
The current owner, Gary Dunlap, purchased this house in 1994 following Leonard Lawrence's
death. This Museum photo of 741 Lincoln was taken in 1999:
Page 9
34
