Mona Newton Ownership, 1986-2023
Mona Newton purchased 708 Grant in 1986 from John Smith. She was the Director of the
Boulder Energy Conservation Center in 1988. She implemented a substantial renovation and
upgrade to the house using green and sustainable materials for better energy efficiency. Her
home remodel was featured in the April 9, 1997 issue of the Louisville Times (Appendix A).
The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records, census
records, oral history interviews, Louisville directories, and Louisville Historical Museum maps, files, obituary
records, and historical photographs from the collection of the Louisville Historical Museum.
