Recreation Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />August 28, 2023 <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />The group of pickleball players said that they would like to know how their <br />community can help to move the addition of outdoor pickleball courts <br />forward. When courts are approved and built, they should be constructed <br />well with the right surface and in the correct direction. <br />Staff Updates <br />Q2 Dashboards <br />Golf Course <br />• Jed Udall reported that the Q2 report looks great, with totals running <br />ahead across the board. This is true, even though the course was <br />down on playable days due to weather. Although the course is <br />$250,000 ahead, that number will come down in the fall. <br />• Top Tracer is not doing as well as expected. There were some hiccups <br />with the technology and connectivity in the beginning, but those <br />problems have been resolved. Jed said that there will be another <br />promotion, with additional outreach and education. <br />• An RFP for the grill will go out for next year. Adam Blackmore reported <br />that an in-house Food and Beverage option will be considered only if <br />there is not a good response to the RFP. <br />Rec Center <br />• Kathy reported that the Q2 Dashboard shows more visits YTD. <br />Membership revenue has improved from last year, although the Rec <br />Center is not yet back to pre -pandemic levels. She said that the Rec <br />Center has provided $40,000 in free fire passes. The largest capital <br />outlay was the roof repair. The City has not yet received payment from <br />insurance for that fire -related expense. She will add resident/non- <br />resident numbers in future reports. <br />• Gene asked about the availability of the Turf Gym, and Kathy said that <br />Summer Day Camp is based there. The turf gym is generally available <br />on weekends and evenings, if not rented for birthday parties. <br />• Kathy will report about the General Fund Transfers of the sales tax <br />revenue next month. That money is designated for the Rec Center, and <br />RAB members would like confirmation that the Rec Center receives it. <br />2024 Fees <br />Rec Center Fees <br />• Kathy reported that the fiscal policy of the City recommends raising <br />rates by 5% annually. Kathy checked with other local rec centers to see <br />if they will be raising fees and to compare fees. Boulder and Lafayette <br />are not planning to raise fees. Erie will raise fees, but hasn't raised <br />them in 7 years. Louisville fees are currently comparable to other <br />
