He <br />noted the City of Louisville is not a private corporation or a private club and <br />should not conduct itself as one. <br /> <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON <br />THE AGENDA <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk responded to Mr. Sobel's comments and stated there was a public <br />process in the selection of the City Manager, where members of the public were <br />invited to an open house to meet the City Manager candidates. He noted the <br />interview process was also open to the public and prior to the selection, there <br />was a public meeting. He explained the City Manager works at the pleasure of <br />the City Council, the elected officials. He stated he was pleased that Malcolm <br />Fleming is the City's City Manager. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk noted the 2009 Fall Festival will celebrate the efforts of the <br />community beginning with Friday Senior Dinner, Saturday's Pancake Breakfast <br />and ending with Monday's Annual Parade and the pie eating event. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming updated Council on the following four items: <br /> <br />1. The Recreation Center is closed for maintenance week. The largest <br />upgrades to the center are the HVAC system, the new pool pack and a <br />new roof. Equipment will be replaced, walls painted and floors repaired <br />and refinished. <br />2. The Nite at the Rec event will be operated by a private contractor <br />beginning on September 25. <br />3. The Staff looks forward to working with interested residents on the <br />Memory Square Pool on solutions to improve cost recovery. Staff <br />proposes a stakeholder's group meeting, which includes the Dolphins <br />Swim Team. <br />4. The budget calendar: Changes to the 2009 budget will be discussed this <br />evening. The 2010 Budget process will begin with the Department <br />Directors recommended budget, which will be presented on October 6. A <br />special meeting will be held on October 13 for Council and public <br />comments. Based on Council and public comment, the budget will be <br />revised and reviewed on October 20. The final public hearing will be <br />November 2, with approval through resolution. <br /> <br />Councilor Muckle arrived to the meeting at 7:12 p.m. <br />
