RESOLUTION #19 cont'd After correction, Councilman Berry moved that Resolution #19, Series 1975 be adopted. Seconded by Councilman Domenico. Motion carried. ORDINANCE 1/480 TREE CONTROL Attorney Morris read Ordinance #480 in full regarding the control and care of dead or infested trees. Councilman DiCarlo moved that Ordinance #480 be ordered published. Seconded by Council woman Dhieux. Councilman Berry questioned the clarifi- cation of Section 4.1 on the obligation of property owners and also on Section 6.1 regarding the maintenance and removal of dead and infested trees. Mr. Wurl stated that he felt the City should be responsible for the removal of dead or infested trees on City pro- perty, but the maintenance be the re- sponsibil~ty of the abutting property owner. Attorney Morris read the clarification on the Ordinance regarding the respon- sibility of the City and property owners abutting City property. After clarified Council voted and passed the publishing of Ordinance #480. DISCUSSION - SALARY INCREASE OF ELECTED OFFICIALS Mr. Wurl stated to Council that elected officials can not receive pay raises during their term of office therefore the salary must be established prior to the term of the new officials so it can be placed in the budget. Under the City Treasurer pay Councilman Caranci stated that the travel expense should be included in the quarterly salary of the treasurer and not taken on as an added expense. Councilman Berry asked who paid the surety bonds. Mr. Wurl stated that a $10,000 surety bond is needed and the City pays the expense of getting the bond. Mr. Wurl suggested to Council that the Mayor salary be increased to $125 per month and Council $75 per month. MayorWaschak felt that a raise was not needed at this time as he felt the service was an honor and should not be for the pay. -3-
