POLICE CO}fr1ISSION cont'd

CITIZEN COM11ENTS

CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT
CITY HALL REMODELING

The visibility of fire arms on policemen
was questioned by a citizen. Commission
decided to notify the officers to cover
the weapon or identify themselves on the
street so that they won't be getting taken
for a burglar or something to that effect.
Councilwoman Scholl moved that the Police
Commission Report be accepted. Seconded
by Councilwoman Dhieux. Motion carried.

Dennis Lundberg asked if City had an audit
which included LURA as several checks are
missing which the bank had sent to the
auditors. Mr. Wur1 stated that they would
be returned to LURA.
Mr. Lundberg also stated that the Non-Profit
Corporation has found a perspective build-
ing sight which will give housing to the
elderly.

Mrs. Forbis asked if it was acceptable
for CAC to use the paper to inform the
citizens of what they are doing. Council
stated that there was no objection as
long as there were no misinterpretations.

A citizen asked if an Ordinance forbidding
people other than Police Officer to carry
weapons in the City. Mr. Morris stated
the United States Constitution forbids the
passing of any Ordinance in that manner
because it states every person has the
right to bear fire arms in defense of his
own personal property. The only thing it
does forbid is that the weapon be concealed.

Mrs. McDonald also asked if any safety
factors were being drawn up in regards
to the school and the fire station so
when the alarm goes off, a wDxrino- will
also go off near the school. No action
was taken.

Mr. Wur1 asked for authority to call for
bids on the electrical, plumbing and
heating for the remodeling of City Hall.
The construction will be done mainly by
the City crews. Councilman Berry moved
that Mr. Wur1 send bid invitations for
electrical, plumbing and mechinica1 for
the remodeling. Seconded by Councilman
Domenico. Councilwoman Scholl asked the
approximate amount of the remodeling. Mr
Wurl stated that the budget was for $16,000.00

-4-
