Letter from the <br />Garden Club compla:ining in regards to chuck holes in alleys. The debris and old <br />cars ,1t the entrance to town. <br /> <br />cm1LITTEES: <br />.Water - Reported that filter pump would be completed and in operation wi thin <br />two weeks. In termountain finished and paid in full. Discussion on water 11ne <br />under the church. Probability of not shutting down the line. '}ecided to <br />:install 1611 cast iron line and pull the st.eel line from under the church to <br />be used somewhere else. <br /> <br />Streets - Jensen reported he had complaints of two evergreen trees over the <br />sidewalk at Caledonia and Jefferson. Clerk instructed to write letter requesting <br />they be trimmed. <br />Contractor failed to instal1 two drainage basins on Jefferson. Fred HcHulty <br />instructed to ;~et these inst,alled. <br />Austins requested that alley be paved. Council cannot nave the alley but will <br />have chuck holes filled and alley graded. <br /> <br />Police Comm.i..ssion - Domenico has had complaints in regard to speed trans. He <br />'would like tn have Lawrence ~rietto present at the next meeting. Police Car <br />/11 is very much in need of repairs. Chief of Police can get a new engine for <br />$300. Police department can use City Administrator's car until an administrator <br />is hired. <br />:Motion by King that Chief I'hmger be authorized to purchase engine for $300. <br />Second by Jensen. }'lotion carried. <br /> <br />IT2HS ON AGENDA: <br /> <br />Keith Helart, Director for :?arks & Hecreation, requested a bond issue for ~ilOO,OOO. <br />Stated the money would be matched by Federal Grants, would be used for a s\orimming <br />pool 3Il.d development of two parks and equjpment" for Hiners Field. The matching <br />funds would come as a grant from HUD. The election on the bond issue would have to <br />be within 60 days. Total cost would be $220,000. Mayor Carand said this would <br />mean an increase in taxes. Councilman Donovan suggested it is time to think about <br />about our ta.'\:ation.
