MINUTES OF POSTPONED MEETIUG OF MAY 19, 197' Hay 25, 1970 Meeting called to order by !v1ayor Lawrence Caranci. Roll Call the following were present - Tomeo, Koprowski, Berry, Mudrock, Dondelinger Perrella. ACCEPTANCE OF MIWJTES: Minutes accepted. POLICE COMMISSION: Ray SancUin was hired as a temporary patrolman May 19, 1970 by Mayor Caranci. Cha1rm\m 1'1udrock, of Police Commission, recommended that he be hired full time. 11Otion by Hudrock seconded by Koprowski that Ray Sandlin be hired as regular patrolman. YlOtion carried. Chief Patrick would like to attend school for Finger Printing and Classifications from June 23rd to June 26th Berry make sure he has someone to fill his place with no overtime pay. Chief to set up schedule and re~ort June 2nd meeting. PLANNING CO}~lISSION: . Attorney Morris said he had talked with Ken Bucci and it will ~ tacked on to original sales tax. Bob to present to resolution committee. Motion by Derry seconded by Dondelinger letter be sent to~~. Eric Schmidt, State Represenative, the statue 'in regards to sales tax being collected;by the State and then remitted back to Cities does not provide for the Cities such as Louisville to levy a use tax. Because this tax is generally associated with a sales tax and levied by home rule cities. They feel. this is discriminatory in that goods in particular construction field can be "purchased" outside the City and used for construction without tax. Louisville would like the above statute amended to levy a use tax leaving the sales tax to be collected by the Treasurer of the State of Colorado. Perrella send letter to DCOG and CQlorado l-iunicipal League. Attorney Morris stated City should have right to accumulate money for 2 or 3 years to purchase major equipment such as fire truck and 'etc. Berry building permits pretty much up to date.
