Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
June 15, 2009

Lewis stated that Julie Boyd, previous City employee, is interested in buying the
Hecla Casino building and moving it to her property on Johnson Street. Lewis
stated for this to qualify for a preservation grant the property would need to be
annexed into the City and the Old Town Overlay District. To do this, it would be
a 4 to 6 month process. Lewis also stated the existing structure on the Boyd
property would need to be demolished or moved. The contractors who would be
used to move the Casino structure might be interested in moving the existing
structure onto their property.

Lewis stated that questions do exist regarding whether the Casino would fit on
the Johnson Street property and what the costs are to move the structure. Lewis
stated if it doesn't fit a variance would be needed for setbacks, lot coverage, etc.
Lewis also stated that Flatirons Habitat for Humanity might be interested in
moving the structure to the Revitalization Area for an office.

McCartney stated if the structure was to be relocated to the Revitalization Area it
would require a rezone and a subdivision of the property.

Ms. Downer's Cabins
Jean Morgan was in the audience and stated that the trees behind the cabin are
gone. She is still trying to figure out where to move the cabins. Morgan asked
the Commission if the cabins could be moved to City owned property.

Koertje stated that the Commission would need to make sure the City would want
the structures.

Lewis asked if the structures were located within the Old Town Overlay District.

McCartney answered that they were.

Koertje stated maybe the preservation fund could be used to supplement the
move.

Tofte stated her desire for them to be located on the Harney Lastoka property.

836 & 844 Main Street - stay expired 4/22/08 - None
824 South Place - stay expired 12/21/08 - None

Items from Staff

None

Items from Commission Members
