4) Responses indicated one overwhelming preference, consequently, only one
meeting was held on Monday, May 11, 2009, 6:00PM, in the Paramount
Room, Louisville Recreation Center. Those attending were:4
Amy Austin Center Stage Theater Company
Ilene Olson Center Stage Theater Company
Lori Jones Center Stage & Art Underground
Kathy Rausch Center Stage
Barbara McGehan Louisville Art Association
Lynn Fleming Coal Creek Community Theater
Kathy Martin Louisville Parks and Recreation Department
Jim Pollicita Louisville Cultural Council
5) The agenda for the meeting was printed and shared:
i) Welcome & Introductions
ii) Purpose: To gather input for the Louisville Cultural Council from
principal users regarding policies, procedures, etc., related to the
Louisville Center for the Arts.
iii) Celebrations & Concerns
iv) Initial Topics to Consider
(1 ) Access
(2) Priorities
(3) Limitations
(4) Costs
(5) Suggestions
v) Wrap-up & Next Steps
6) Meeting Summary
a) People see the Art Center as a valuable community resource.
i) It provides "essential no-cost rehearsal space" that allows CST to
provide theater experiences to youth at reasonable cost.
ii) Growth of local arts groups has led to more productions, increased,
and naturally, increasing pressure on the space.
iii) Other facilities have been used, but costs and other limitations are
problematic for theater groups.
iv) CCCT would "ideally do three shows at the Art Center" annually.
v) The facility is "not easy to work with" for theater.
vi) It is, however, "very intimate."
vii) One advantage of the Art Center over other facilities is proximity to
downtown Louisville for patrons, parents, and visitors.
viii) It is "great to have art on the walls during rehearsals."
b) In general, things work pretty well.

4 Full information on each group can be found at the following websites:

Center Stage Theater Company
Coal Creek Community Theater
Harmony's A.CT
Louisville Art Association
Louisville Cultural Council
The Art Underground

www.centerstaQetheatercompanv.orQ
www.ccctheater.orQ
www.harmonvsact.com
www.louisvilleart.orQ
www.louisvillearts.orQ
www.theartunderQround.orQ

August 11, 2009

Art Center Usage Report

Page 3 of6
