SIMMONS, CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />October 1, 2002 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Ordinance No. 1400, Series 2002 - Floodplain Ordinance Amendment <br />Public Hearing <br />ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: Planning <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />The City of Louisville has been notified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that a <br />recent re-evaluation of Special Flood hazard Areas (SFHA's) has been completed as initially identified <br />on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) issued on May 6, 1996. The revised FIRM map will become <br />effective on October 4,2002. <br /> <br />The revised FRIM map will incorporate two projects, which were approved by Letter of Map Revision <br />(LOMR). The pedestrian trail under the BNRR Bridge (9/96), and Drainageway A Improvements <br />(112000). <br /> <br />The City is required to amend its adopted floodplain ordinance as found in Chapter 17.56 of the <br />Louisville Municipal Code (LMC) prior to October 4, 2002, which is the effective date of the new FIRM <br />map. The scope of the amendment is limited to one revision, acknowledging the new date of the revised <br />FIRM and Flood Insurance Study (FIS). <br /> <br />Attached Ordinance No. 1400, Series 2002 proposes to amend Section 17.56.070, striking the June 2, <br />1995 date and adding October 4,2002 as the date of the revised PIS and FIRM. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Conduct Public Hearing and ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. 1400, SERIES 2002, ON SECOND AND <br />FINAL READING. <br /> <br />IE <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 1400, Series 2002 <br />Floodplain Ordinance <br />Amendment <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br />7A <br />
