Subcommittee members Whiteman
and Lewis toured the site on June 25 and determined that the home may be eligible for
local land marking. The main structure, which still retains most of the original
architectural features, is a vernacular structure that has wood lap board siding. On
viewing the site plan that was included in the 1953 photo attached to the assessor's
comment card, there appears to have been an addition on the northeast side of the
building sometime after the photo was taken.

During the site visit it was also determined that the windows were not original, but the
window openings were evident as the siding appeared to be patched over the original
window openings. Because of the patchwork it was determined that the siding must be
original. The existing porch, although in its original location, has modern construction
materials, which lead the reviewers to believe it had been rebuilt as well.

In reviewing the applicants demo permit, the applicant intends on demolishing the rear
portion of the structure while retaining the front portion to reuse it for future construction.
It should be noted that the applicants are following standard preservation procedures in
preserving the front of the structure and placing the addition to the rear. This action will
allow for the street front fayade to be preserved, which helps retain the character of the
neighborhood.

During the site visit, the reviewers noted the house has retained most of the historical
material and shape, and the building is located in its original location. Even though the
windows have been changed, they have used window types that lend to the architectural
feel of the historic structure. Because of the above discussion, a stay was placed on the
demolition permit request and a public hearing was scheduled for September 21 , 2009.

Per Ordinance No. 1463, Series 2005 the following public notice was given:
. The public hearing was advertised in the Daily Camera on September 4th, 2009;
. A public hearing notice was posted on the property on September 4th, 2009;
. The applicant received notice via both regular and certified mail, sent on August
13th 2009
, .
