Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board
Minutes
September 3, 2009
Tree Protection-Information on handout needs to be reviewed by HFAB.
Suggestion was made to edit in order to shorten length of handout, or attach an
outline or "at-a-glance" page to the front of the handout, to summarize key points.

Cemetery Expansion-Scraping and grading will take place second week in
September; sod will be installed by the end of October; and a row of cedar trees
will be removed.

Arboretum-Funds for improvements (eg electricity to site) will not be available
due to budget cuts. Boulder County Youth Corps availability will be reduced by
50% for 2010. Regarding the city budget for trees, which is also reduced for
2010, the question was raised about what percentage of trees purchased each
year are replacements vs new plantings.

Website development-Suggestion was made to add to HFAB's section
information about fruit tree maintenance, and sustainable agriculture in general.

Discussion items for Next Meeting on Oct. 1, 2009- Tree protection
guidelines; and updates on cemetery and median progress.

Adjourn-The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
