ORDINANCE NO. 1559 SERIES 2009 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.04 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO REQUIRE BUSINESSES TO ANNUALLY RENEW BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS AND TO ANNUALLY PAY BUSINESS REGISTRATION FEES, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE REVOCATION, DENIAL, CANCELLATION OR SUSPENSION OF BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS IN CERTAIN INSTANCES WHEREAS, the City does not currently charge a business registration fee and businesses are not currently required to annually renew business registrations; and WHEREAS, the City desires to amend Chapter 5.04 of the Louisville Municipal Code to require businesses to annually renew business registrations and to annually pay business registration fees to help cover the costs associated with the administration of Chapter 5.04 of the Louisville Municipal Code and related services; and WHEREAS, the City desires to amend Section 5.04.090 of the Louisville Municipal Code to provide for the denial, cancellation or suspension of business registrations in certain instances; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: Section 1. Chapter 5.04 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows (words to be deleted are shown in strikeout; words to be added are underlined): Sec. 5.04.010. Purpose of provisions. The purpose of this chapter shall be to require the registration and annual renewal of such registration of all business activities and enterprises physically located within the city and to provide the city with necessary information concerning the businesses wilthin the city, including but not limited to the nature of the business operation, the number of employees, place of business, and emergency contacts, in order to protect the health, welfare and safety of the city's inhabitants. Sec. 5.04.020. Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter the following terms, phrases, words, and their derivatives shall have the meanings given in this section: Business means and includes all kinds of vocations, occupations, home occupations, professions, enterprises and establishments, any of which are conducted on any premises in this city or anywhere else within its jurisdiction.
