Statehouse Report, like its prede- cessor,. the Legislative Bulletin, will provide timely information on leg- islation and other developments vital to the interests of CML's member municipalities. It will be published every other Friday during the legislative session, beginning Jan. 10, 1997. This special preview that you hold in your hands is designed to pro- vide an early look at the issues likely to arise during the upcoming session, as well as important infor- mation on CML positions and how to more effectively convey your municipality's position on issues. Ongoing efforts This package of preview informa- tion is part of CML's ongoing efforts to provide better legislative information and action for its mem- bers. Two other important elements are CML's new grassroots involve- ment program and a broadcast fax effort. CML recently sent municipal offi- cials a political acquaintance survey that we hope you will fill out. It will help us identify which municipal officials know which legislators, and how well they know them. In addition, CML will be developing an enhanced broad- cast fax capability to get legislative information out faster and to a wider audience. For more informa- tion on this, as well as the existing CML Connection service, contact Steve Smithers. As you look through this preview, be sure to note the topics directly affecting your municipality; you will be able to track them as the session proceeds through regular updates in the Statehouse Report. Statehouse Report is sent to a number of municipal and state offi- cials automatically. In addition, it is sent to those who tell us they want the information delivered directly to their desk every other week. Information on how to get State- house Report during the upcoming session will be sent to the mayors of each member municipality, and order forms will be published in the Dec. 3 and Dec. 20 issues of the CML Newsletter.
