Cultural Council
Agenda
DATE
- Maryan moved that the LCC sponsor New Arts Center dreams with CU
nd
and the associated costs for the 2 year in a row. The motion did not pass.
We need to revisit this sponsorship at the November 12 th meeting. Don raised
the idea of getting CU to help do a fiscal study of how a new arts center would
impact the economy of Louisville.
IV. Fundraising/Sponsorships – Rebecca, Lynn, Farren
- Lynn moved that the LCC should not participate in “Artsy Fartsy” with the
latter organization and Art Underground with the associated costs/possible
revenue. Maryan seconded this motion. Unfortunately, not enough information
or time to turn this event around.
Discussion of Events
XIII.
- Mary Flower (7/25) only 40 people attended needed to give a guarantee to
the artist so did not break even. There was discussion about putting a clause in
the artist’s contract that they can’t perform within a 25-mile radius within two
weeks of their Louisville concert. That still allows performances in Fort Collins
and Swallow Hill.
Children's Concert (10/3) not great attendance of the Merry Andrew Afoot
Dance (10/3), good attendance though problem with water – Kathy Martin
requested that we no longer hand out bottled water at our events. Louisville
was awarded the “best tap water”.
Kreck Library Event (10/22),
Dance (11/7), Concert (11/14),
Paintin' Louisville – only 9 artists handed in artwork. LAA decided to put this
show on their annual calendar for better collaboration with the LCC and more
support by the artists.Diane Corl’s Farmer’s Market was purchased by the
LCC, Becky Everett’s painting came in second place. Kathy Martin suggested
that we could hang our 2 LCC painting permanently at the Rec Center.
Young Artists – sign up sheets were passed to volunteer to hang the show
and sit the November/December Show.Kathy Martin and Julie Seydel will
pick up the schools’ artwork on 11/11. Lynn and Patti Shunk will mat the art
and on Saturday 11/14 we will all come together to compile the artwork and
hang the show at the Art Center.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting 12
XIII.November Agenda Items Due by 2
November – need to revisit the motion that the LCC sponsor New Arts Center
nd
dreams with CU and the associated costs for the 2 year in a row.
