To: Historical Commission Members

From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator

Date: October 12, 2009

Re: Activity Report

Activity Report

The following are some recent activities that may be of particular interest to the Commission.

I attended the Professional Group meeting of the Association of Northern Front Range Museums with
volunteer Mary Kay Knorr in September. It was held at the CU Museum of Natural History and the
program topic was how to care for organic materials (such as leather, cotton, wool, and similar materials)
in museum collections. The program was extremely useful.

A book that will feature the Tomeo House is expected to be published in November. The title is The Walls
Talk and its subject is Colorado's historic house museums. The author conducted her research at the
Museum in 2005-06. The publishing company is planning to provide the historic house museums that are
featured in the book with information on selling the book.

Historical Museum Correspondence & News Coverage

Copies of recent publications from other museums and area historical organizations will be available to
view after the meeting.

Visitors Report & Tours

. Classes of students from both St. Louis School and Coal Creek Elementary toured the Museum.
. September visitors: 148
. YTD visitors (through September): 1333
