<br />Sec. 15.12.110. Fire lane requirements. <br /> <br />A. Single- family residences which are located more than 150 feet from the closest public <br />street right-of-way shall provide a fire lane from the street to the residence and the fire <br />lane shall be no less than 16 feet wide. <br /> <br />B. All buildings, except single-family residences, three stories or greater in height, shall <br />have ready access on public streets or fire lanes to at least two sides of the building from <br />which a rescue can be made. Access for rescue means doorways or windows. If there is <br />no access for rescue on the sides of the building, then fire lanes shall exist on the front <br />and back of the building. <br /> <br />C. No platted street in multifamily, industrial, business or commercial development ending <br />in a cul-de-sac or some other design shall exceed 300 feet in length without providing a <br />secondary fire lane access. <br /> <br />D. No platted street in a single-family area ending in a cul-de-sac or some other design shall <br />exceed 500 feet in length without providing a secondary fire lane access. <br /> <br />Sec. 15.12.120. Fire lane specifications. <br /> <br />A. Fire lanes shall be clearly marked with an approved sign and kept clear of obstruction. <br />The location and configuration of all fire lanes shall be approved by the city prior to <br />installation. <br /> <br />B. Except as provided in section 15.12.110.A, fire lanes shall be at least 20 feet wide, but <br />may be reduced to 16 Deet wide upon application to and approval of the city. Fire lane <br />width requirements may be increased by the city where normal widths are inadequate for <br />fire or rescue operations.. <br /> <br />C. The center of fire lanes at buildings shall be no more than 30 feet nor less than 20 feet <br />from the building, and all such lanes shall have an unobstructed outside turning radius of <br />no less than 45 feet and an inside turning radius of no less than 32 feet. <br /> <br />D. There shall be no overhead obstructions lower than 15 feet on fire lanes or side <br />obstructions closer than fivt~ feet from the outer edges of fire lanes. <br /> <br />E. Fire lanes shall be designed and constructed of hard surface suitable to withstand the <br />weight of fire apparatus, and such surfaces must be able to support the weight of the <br />heaviest fire apparatus of the fire district serving the property. <br /> <br />F. An emergency access fire lane which is required to be installed into an area as a <br />secondary access must be as remote as possible from the main access and provide access <br /> <br />13 <br />
