Resource Conservation Advisory Board Agenda DATE Page 2 of 2 Review: Follow-up activity for plastic-bags issue: M Persichetti will send a summary of our activities on this topic at our Labor-Day weekend set-up at Community Park, to Lafayette’s WRAC. He’ll also request information about that board’s recommendations to Lafayette’s City Council. We’ll decide on any further actions at future meetings. Member Reports: Contacts, Meetings, Interest Items, etc. LRCAB - City-Council Meeting is currently scheduled for April 27, 2010. New City-Employees Sustainability Team: M Persichetti will attend this group’s next meeting on Nov 25 (postponed until Jan-2010). T Phare and members discussed some city-staff and city-facility options, such as solar heating for water at the Rec Center; R Hughes will pursue an informal audit of energy usage options at the Rec Center. M Persichetti reported on the City-of-Boulder’s acquisition of property at 6400 E Arapahoe Rd, for a “Recycle Row” facility. It’s planned to house Eco-Cycle’s dispersed collection sites and Resource (building-materials recycling business). Other recycling options may also occur there. Report on Single-Hauler Rates: T Phare submitted a report (attached) on the numbers of tons of Trash, Recyclables, and Compostables collected by Western Disposal, monthly, since June 2009. To date, 55% collected has gone to landfill, and 45% has been diverted. Members discussed options to increase the diversion percentage, primarily with information efforts to present residents with lists of materials that can go into compost or recycling instead of into the trash. Discussion Items for Next Meeting, scheduled for December 14, 2009: Discussion of, and possible amendments to LRCAB By-Laws, to better define Membership & Quorum requirements. In response to current situation, with only 4 remaining active members, but 7 authorized membership – on which number do we base our ‘quorum’ requirement? Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 8pm.
