To: Chief Bruce Goodman
Chief of Police
Louisville Police Department

From: Tom Davinroy
Chair, Open Space Advisory Board

Chief Goodman,

I am writing to express the concern of the Open Space Advisory Board about parking
and traffic issues at the Davidson Mesa Open Space. As you are certainly aware, the
Davidson Mesa Open Space and Dog Off-Leash Area are very popular destinations,
especially on weekend mornings. It has come to the attention of the Board that
people are more frequently parking and driving outside of the designated areas,
even driving out onto open space to park!

In addition OSAB is concerned for the safety of pedestrians crossing McCaslin Blvd.
from the Harper Lake parking lot to the Davidson Mesa Open Space. We have
observed vehicles travelling at speeds exceeding the posted limit and vehicles
ignoring the presence of pedestrians crossing the Blvd.

The Open Space Advisory Board is requesting that the Louisville Police Department
increase enforcement of parking regulations at Davidson Mesa and speed limits on
McCaslin Blvd.

The Board also requests that you increase enforcement of leash laws on open space
to reduce the negative impact offree-running pets on wildlife and on other users of
Louisville Open Space.

Thank you
Tom Davinroy
Chair, Open Space Advisory Board
