<br />Bylaws of the Louisville Public Library Board of Trustees <br /> <br />Revised and re-adopted by the Louisville Public Library Board of Tmstees, November 16, 2009. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 1: The Board of Trustees <br /> <br />Section 1. Status and Name. The Louisville Public Library Board ofTmstees <br />("Board") was established and authorized by virtue of the Louisville Municipal Code, Section <br />2.64. <br /> <br />Section 2. Office. The office of the Board shall be considered the Louisville City Hall, <br />749 Main Street, Louisville, CO 80027, or such other place in the City of Louisville, Colorado as <br />the Board members may designate from. <br /> <br />Section 3. Membership. The Board shall consist of six residents of the City of <br />Louisville appointed by the City Council and one member appointed by the Town of Superior. <br />Each member shall be appointed for a five-year term. Midterm vacancies shall be filled by the <br />City Council for the remainder of the existing term. <br /> <br />ARTICLE II: Purpose <br /> <br />The function of the Louisville Public Library Board ofTmstees is to act as advocates for <br />the Louisville Library, with a primary focus on four key areas: <br /> <br />A. Create and advance the Library's Service Philosophy and Strategic Plan <br />B. Advocate for critical resources to meet Library needs <br />C. Act as community advocates on behalf of the Library to city council, the public, <br />and other libraries <br />D. Work closely with the Library Director to provide advice and support <br /> <br />A representative sample of tasks that the Library Board ofTmstees manages on an as- <br />needed basis include: <br /> <br />A. Provide advice in hiring a Library Director <br />B. Monitor, advise, and construct the Library's position in service negotiations <br />C. Lead Library-related ballot issues <br />D. Conduct general Library Board ofTmstees business, such as reviewing usage <br />statistics, and in conjunction with the Library Director, creating and adopting Library policies <br />E. Guidance and support in creation of the Library budget <br />F. Submit Library's annual report to the Colorado State Library <br /> <br />ARTICLE III: Officers and Personnel <br /> <br />Section 1. Officers. The officers of the Louisville Public Library Board ofTmstees shall <br />be a President, a Vice-President, and a Secretary who shall be elected by the Board from its <br />membership. <br />
