Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Thursday, April 2, 2009 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 PM <br />Call to Order — Board member Matt Tepe called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. <br />Roll Call was taken and the following members were present: <br />Board Members Present: Vickie Marra, Matt Tepe, Ellen Toon <br />Board Members Absent: Mike Frontczak, Theresa Rounds <br />Staff Members Present: Chris Lichty, Dean Johnson, Joe Stevens <br />City Council Member Present: Dave Clabots <br />Approval of Agenda — The agenda was approved by all members. <br />Approval of Meeting Minutes — The minutes from the March 5, 2009 meeting <br />were approved as written. <br />Public Comments - Dean reported on behalf of the newly formed Blooming <br />Seniors Garden & Turf Club: The group is seeking a grant to pay for the <br />construction of a handicap -accessible garden at the Louisville Senior Center. <br />Vickie offered to help the group, as she has some background in horticultural <br />therapy. <br />2009 Arbor Day Planning — Chris has submitted a press release to the Daily <br />Camera and the Louisville Times. The trees at Cherry Creek Tree Farm have <br />not been dug and moved yet due to the weather; Chris will print gift certificates <br />which can be distributed during Arbor Day activities. The board will meet at 9:00 <br />am on April 18 at the Arboretum to help plant 5 — 6 trees along the eastern edge. <br />Draft Tree Protection Guidelines — Chris distributed copies of ISA information, <br />"Avoiding Tree Damage During Construction."
