<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1555 <br />SERIES 2009 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND RE-ENACTING CHAPTER 6.24 OF THE <br />LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING THE KEEPING OF BEES WITHIN <br />THE CITY AND ESTABLISHING REQillREMENTS FOR BEEKEEPING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the practice of beekeeping is currently prohibited by Section 6.24.010 of the <br />Louisville Municipal Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to repeal and re-enact Chapter 6.24 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code in order to allow the keeping of bees within certain areas of the City, and to <br />prescribe requirements for such beekeeping; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. Chapter 6.24 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby repealed and re- <br />enacted, to read in full as follows: <br /> <br />Chapter 6.24 <br /> <br />BEES <br /> <br />Sec. 6.24.010. Definitions. <br />Sec. 6.24.020. Districts where beekeeping permitted. <br />Sec. 6.24.030. Certain conduct declared unlawful. <br />Sec. 6.24.040. Hives. <br />Sec. 6.24.050. Colony densities. <br />Sec. 6.24.060. Declaration of nuisance. <br />Sec. 6.24.070. Enforcement. <br /> <br />Sec. 6.24.010. Definitions. <br /> <br />The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall <br />have the meanings ascribed to them in this section: <br /> <br />Apiary shall mean a place where bee colonies are kept. <br /> <br />Bee shall mean any stage of the common domestic honey bee, aplS <br />mellifera species. <br /> <br />Colony shall mean a hive and its equipment and appurtenances, including <br />bees, comb, honey, pollen and brood. <br /> <br />Hive shall mean a structure intended for the housing of a bee colony. <br /> <br />1 <br />
