<br />Section 2. <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2.64.020 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended to <br /> <br />Sec. 2.64.020. Library Board of Trustees-Appointment. <br /> <br />The mayor, with the consent of the city council, shall appoint a Library <br />Board of Trustees (board) to advise Library administration, city council and city <br />staff on matters concerning the public library of the city. The Library board shall <br />consist of six residents of the city and one resident of the Town of Superior (Town), <br />with all rules and responsibilities applying equally to members from both <br />municipalities. <br /> <br />Board members shall be appointed to serve for five years. The board shall <br />not receive any salary or other compensation for services as board trustees, but <br />necessary and authorized travel and subsistence expenses shall be paid from library <br />funds. A member may be removed by city council under the provisions of section <br />10.2 of the City Charter, with cause therefore as may be defined in the bylaws of <br />the board and any ordinance or resolution of city council. A majority of the Library <br />board may recommend such action to city council. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2.64.030 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended to <br /> <br />Sec. 2.64.030. Library Board of Trustees-Powers and duties. <br />The function of the Louisville Public Library (Library) Board of Trustees is <br />to act as advocates for the Louisville Public Library, with a primary focus on four <br />key areas: <br /> <br />A. Create and advance the Library's Service Philosophy and Strategic Plan <br />B. Advocate for critical resources to meet Library needs <br />C. Act as community advocates on behalf of the Library to city council, the <br />public, and other libraries <br />D. Work closely with the Library Director to provide advice and support <br /> <br />A representative sample of tasks that the Library Board of Trustees manages on an <br />as-needed basis includes: <br /> <br />A. Provide advice in hiring a Library Director <br />B. Monitor, advise, and construct the Library's position in service <br />negotiations <br />C. Lead Library-related ballot issues <br />D. Conduct general Library Board of Trustees business, such as reviewing <br />usage statistics, and in conjunction with the Library Director, creating and adopting <br />Library policies <br />E. Guidance and support in creation of the Library budget <br />F. Submit Library's annual report to the Colorado State Library <br />G. Adopt bylaws for governance of the Board that are consistent with this <br /> <br />code. <br /> <br />2 <br />
