Annie Hughes

Vision:

To make Louisville No.1 in Sustainability

Long Term Goals:

. Energy Independence
. Localization offood supply
. Clean air
. Clean water
. Non-polluting transportation
. All refuse either recycled or composted

Short Term Goals:

. Eliminate plastic shopping bags, either by outright ban (San Francisco) or tax
(Ireland)
. Mandatory green building code for all new builds and remodels, including
residential, commercial, nonproft, and government
. Photovoltaics on every usable roof surface on all residential, commercial, and
nonprofit and government buildings
. Increase landfill diversion rate to 75% through public outreach, training.
. Recycling of all refuse in public buildings and at public events

Here is input I've received from citizens:

Keep the quality of life that Louisville offers high with items like preserving
open space, a sense of community through events like the street faires, not too much
traffic, a commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.

More specifically:

Update the rec center by adding an outdoor pool which is more appropriate for
younger kids. It does not meet my needs currently and I am a member of the YMCA
in lafayette and love it. I would happily join the Louisville Rec Center if it offered
what I need (more comprehensive childcare, lower cost and better facilities).

From my point of view Louisville has not done a good job amracting "destination"
businesses, like Costco. There is a ring of commerce around Louisville (in Lafayette
and Superior) which keeps Louisville from bringing in the type of businesses that
people frequent on a regular basis (Walmart, Costco, Whole Foods, etc) and
generate tax revenue. Why doesn't Louisville try to go after something like Trader
