Memorandum <br />To: Mayor and City Council <br />From: Historic Preservation Commission <br />Date: February 23, 2010 <br />Re: 2009 Accomplishments and 2010 Work Plan <br />2009 Accomplishments <br />The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) had a very busy year in 2009. A list of <br />the Commission’s accomplishments includes: <br />Staff Liaison: <br /> Meredyth Muth stepped down as Staff Liaison in June 2009. Sean <br />o <br />McCartney, Principal Planner, became the Staff Liaison, as well as <br />temporary Preservation Planner for the HPC in June 2009. The <br />temporary Preservation Planner results in approximately 10 additional <br />hours of work per week. <br />Public Hearings: <br /> Demolition Request – 561 Lincoln Avenue (partial demolition permitted <br />o <br />for further investigation in August, home totally demolished in <br />September) <br /> 701 Walnut(demolition stay placed on property, stay expired but no <br />o <br />immediate plans to demolish the property) <br /> 712 Lincoln(demolition stay placed on property, stay expired but no <br />o <br />immediate plans to demolish the property) <br />Demolition Reviews: <br /> 1116 Lafarge <br />o <br /> 701 Walnut <br />o <br /> 712 Lincoln <br />o <br /> 720 Pine (garage) <br />o <br /> 908 Parkview <br />o <br /> 561 Lincoln <br />o <br /> 1040 La Farge (garage) <br />o <br /> Discussions/meetings with various entities in trying to save the Hecla Mine <br />Casino, located at 1800 Plaza Drive. <br /> Design Assistance for 921 Main Street to discuss window and siding <br />replacement. <br /> HPC met with Planning Commission to discuss update to downtown design <br />standards and guidelines.Two public meetings were held on September 2, <br />2009 and September 30, 2009. <br />ì <br /> <br />
